12,400 people trained in community first aid

Between January 2025 and May 2026, nine branches delivered community first aid training to 12,400 people — teachers, drivers, market traders, students and neighbourhood committee members.

The curriculum covers bleeding control, airway management, burns, fractures and safe transport of the injured, taught over two days with practical assessment on the second.

Follow-up interviews with a sample of 400 participants found that one in five had used a skill from the course within six months, most often for road traffic injuries and household burns.

The review recommends extending the refresher cycle to twelve months and adding a short module on psychological first aid for volunteers responding in their own communities.
